Dean Guitars
at Total Guitar Buyer
Dean Guitars was founded in 1976 by Dean Zelinsky. His early
designs owed much to the Gibson stable with a touch of Dean
originality thrown in for good measure. Typical of this was
Dean's early use of the humbucker / single-coil / single-coil
pickup arrangement that later became so influential.
As was the case for many US guitar builders, Dean eventually
moved its production to Asia. In the early 1990's, however,
Dean began re-building his early designs as US-made American
Customs, most notably in the form of the renowned US Custom
Shop series.
Dean Guitars alliance with Dimebag Darrell gave the company
a much needed boost and many of its current models still carry
that association as a clear indication of what these guitars
are capable of performance-wise.
