Schecter Guitars at Total Guitar Buyer
Schecter was founded in 1975 primarily as a supplier of
replacement parts. Within a few years the company began
building guitars that closely resembled Fenders. During the
1980's Schecter struggled but managed to survive thanks to the
Japanese branch of its operation.
Schecter continued to build Fender-style guitars until the
1990's when the company introduced several changes to produce
models such as the Tempest, Hellcat, Avenger and Diamond
series. Perhaps Schecter's main contribution in recent years
has been to produce affordable seven string guitars.
