Washburn Guitars at Total Guitar Buyer
Washburn was a long-established maker of acoustic guitars
that lost its way in the years leading up to the Second World
War. Indeed, the name lay dormant until the late 1970's when
its new owners recognized the potential of the Washburn
brandname.
Initially Washburn marketed guitars produced in Japan and
Korea, including the Wing Series and Stage solidbodies that
were aimed squarely at the rock market. Washburn continually
introduced new models targeted at trends in the music business
resulting in the introduction of the superstrat-like Force
models.
Towards the end of the 1980's Washburn increased production
in the US with the Chicago and Classic series. This process
continued in the 1990's with the introduction of numerous
designs including the Mercury, Dime, MG and Billy T series.
Clearly Washburn has been prolific during its recent
guitar-making history and this willingness to introduce many
models to satisfy changing tastes has ensured its continuing
success.
