Yamaha Guitars at Total Guitar Buyer
The famous Japanese Yamaha company started making electric
guitars in the mid 1960's with a series of well constructed
solidbodies. The company had to wait until 1976 for its first
major success in the form of the SG 2000. Such was the quality
of this instrument that it was endorsed by Carlos Santana.
Many of the designs that followed were strongly influenced
by Fenders and Gibsons with many models manufactured in cheaper
locations such as Taiwan. From 1990 Yamaha started building
guitars in its US facility and its most notable models included
the Pacifica, Weddington, AES and SGU series.
Over the years Yamaha has produced numerous guitars of a
very high technical and build quality. Most of its designs have
avoided the unusual but it has been this emphasis on building
quality instruments that has ensured a still strong following
for Yamaha guitars.
